This blog feature amusing and heartwarming stories about our late Leonberger dog Bronco, as well as other Leonbergers. It also has a lot of information about the Leonberger breed, the history, care, training, Leonberger organizations, etc. I also wrote a Leonberger book, which I am featuring in the sidebar.
Dog Humor 8
It is time for another Dog Humor post. To see the previous ones see the list below. All the dog comics are Facebook pictures that are being passed around. The original creator is typically noted on the cartoon.
Today’s post has the theme of the physical and mental health of dogs. I chose this theme today because we took our dog Rollo to the veterinary emergency room a couple of days ago because he threw up three times within six hours. He had been chewing on a lot of rawhide which is a bit risky, so we were worried. He got an X-ray and various blood tests. Everything was normal. It was probably just a stomach flu or upset stomach. He received anti-nausea medication, and he is taking anti-diarrhea medication. However, everything is otherwise fine with him. The cartoons below speak for themselves.
My name is Thomas Wikman. I am a software/robotics engineer with a background in physics. I am currently retired. I took early retirement. I am a dog lover, and especially a Leonberger lover, a home brewer, craft beer enthusiast, I’m learning French, and I am an avid reader. I live in Dallas, Texas, but I am originally from Sweden. I am married to Claudia, and we have three children. I have two blogs. The first feature the crazy adventures of our Leonberger Le Bronco von der Löwenhöhle as well as information on Leonbergers. The second blog, superfactful, feature information and facts I think are very interesting. With this blog I would like to create a list of facts that are accepted as true among the experts of the field and yet disputed amongst the public or highly surprising. These facts are special and in lieu of a better word I call them super-facts.

These are all very good. Thanks for the chuckles. 😀
He probably has a stomach flu but we were worried about all the rawhide he chewed and ate. They saw the rawhide in his stomach but they saw that there were no big pieces and that it was passing through fine. A big piece getting stuck would have been awful. Thank you so much Miriam.
Good to take Rollo to get checked out and hope he continues to feel better. These cartoons were so funny, especially the pills in the cheese, and the tin foil hat one. haha 🙂
Thank you so much Barbara. It maybe seems like overkill to take to the emergency but we were worried about the rawhide he ate. Sometimes big pieces can break off.
Haha… Loved all of them Thomas… and dogs are not the only one with pieces of cheese used as a disguise… 😀 in the pill dept… Sending lots of Hugs,, Have a wonderful Easter with your family Thomas…. and of course your faithful four-legged friends… Much love ❤
Yes you are right. The funny thing is they seem to like it and they understand a lot of words. I read a science fiction in which the dogs had implants that made it possible to communicate with them.
What a relief, Thomas! One time, my younger granddaughter played with the stick on earrings. Then she complained about earache and the earring disappeared. My son-in-law took her to the urgent care to make sure it didn’t get pushed into the ear. After being checked, we found that piece got such on her dress!
We just wanted to make sure.
Thank you Miriam. It is good that you took her to the emergency room because you never know. We felt the same way but about Rollo. Sometimes big pieces of rawhide can come lose.
Thank you so much Introverted Bookworm. I am sorry to hear that you were a bit depressed after coming back from your holiday. But I hope you had a good vacation.
Thank you Jamie. Our Leonberger loved rawhide, and we weren’t aware of the risks back then, but now with Rollo we are starting to be more careful because of the risks. We’ve taken a rawhide break.
These are all very good. Thanks for the chuckles. 😀

Good to hear Rollo is normal, Thomas. I hope the two pieces of cheese help to stop the vomiting and diarrhea. Thanks for the chuckle. 🤭

Thank you so much Alex. He is not vomiting and he is much more energetic and happy but he still has diarrhea. It is probably a stomach flu.

I hope he feels better soon. Stomach flu isn’t pleasant…for dogs or humans.

Thank you so much Alex. We are happy though that he did not eat anything posionous and that it wasn’t a big piece of rawhide.

Isn’t it funny how we talk to our dogs? “Are you a good boy?” (asked in a childlike voice)
Imagine if dogs could answer in a human voice. “Yeah, I’m doing alright, man.”
(The same thing happens when people talk to babies.)

I like how these cartoons are from the dogs’ points of view. I hope Rollo’s feeling better. Watch out for that rawhide!

Thank you so much JoAnna. Luckily the problem was not the rawhide, but you are right. Rawhide is something you need to be careful with.

Love these! My daughter gets worried when we give raw hide, but it makes the dog SO happy (and keeps her busy…the dog, not my daughter! 😂)
