New Blog Launch

Today I finally got around to launching my new blog. I call it super facts and the website name is https://superfactful.com.

I added five posts, which are pretty much exactly the five super-fact related posts I posted here on my Leonberger blog previously. So, you may recognize them. In the continuation it will be stuff you haven’t seen before. However, now I need to find out if my blog works. Do I get notifications about comments and likes? Can you subscribe? Can you navigate it? All opinions and bug reports are welcome. I invite you all to check it out and if you subscribe, I would be very happy. I can add that it is easy to toggle between the two blogs, just look at the right-hand sidebar.

My name is Thomas Wikman. I am a software/robotics engineer with a background in physics. I am currently retired. I took early retirement. I am a dog lover, and especially a Leonberger lover, a home brewer, craft beer enthusiast, I’m learning French, and I am an avid reader. I live in Dallas, Texas, but I am originally from Sweden. I am married to Claudia, and we have three children. I have two blogs. The first feature the crazy adventures of our Leonberger Le Bronco von der Löwenhöhle as well as information on Leonbergers. The second blog, superfactful, feature information and facts I think are very interesting. With this blog I would like to create a list of facts that are accepted as true among the experts of the field and yet disputed amongst the public or highly surprising. These facts are special and in lieu of a better word I call them super-facts.

      1. I think that is in settings and then discussion. However, even then think you will need to approve everyone the first time and after that, if selected, known users and their comments will be automatically listed. Good luck sorting out those initial niggles!

    1. You are right Annika. I found it under settings / discussion an option called “Comment author must have a previously approved comment” It was yes by default and I did not see it. I turned it off right now. Thank you so much.

  1. It looks great, Thomas! I already subscribed and am exploring the posts published so far! It’s not only very informative but also mind-opening and thought-proving. I like that! *Light and blessings to you, and success for your new site*

    1. Thank you Pooja. Yes it seems to be working and I learned a couple of things regarding the twenty sixteen theme that I am using. The photos sometimes are confined within the text flow and sometimes they stretch out the left edge. This was intentionally done so that you could show off your large images to the fullest. However, with some images being confined within the text column and some not it often comes out looking ugly, and they now consider this a bug rather than a feature. If there was an easy way of controlling it would be a good feature but like it is now, it is nuissance. But what I learned is that you can control this by resizing the image. The image will expand left if it is wider than 840px and not a tall image, but otherwise not. The resizing has to be done for each picture individually, but that is fine. I have a way of controlling now and I will go back and fix this on my Leonberger blog as well as my Superfactful blog.

      1. That’s interesting to know. I think a lot of themes have these features turned bugs because I had a similar issue with my prior theme as well. Since I’ve changed it to a new theme it’s not an issue anymore.

      1. Thanks so much. I use the Bitácora theme and have made some custom changes because I didn’t love how it looks originally. Overall, it’s a very nice theme although a little less mobile friendly but that’s easily fixable.
