Do You Know About Super Facts
With this post I just wanted to highlight my other blog superfactful. The purpose of that blog is to find facts that are important and true with very high certainty and yet disputed by many amongst the public (but not scientists/experts), surprising to many, and perhaps shocking. Imagine telling a medieval peasant who believes that Earth is flat like a pancake that it is closely spherical. That Earth is not flat like a pancake is true with a very high certainty (BTW nothing outside of logic and math is absolutely 100%), it is kind of important, and would probably be surprising to him. Maybe he’ll call it BS, but that is the point.
I call these kinds of facts SUPER FACTS, and I am the super fact hunter. I am trying to make the blog fun and educational. I use reputable sources to back up my claims that I hope will shock many without resorting to clickbait. It is not an academic blog, but I am linking to thousands of academic sources. Below I am listing my five last super facts. To see the full post, you have to click on the links.
Wind Energy is Indeed Clean Energy
Superfact 87: Wind energy is a clean, renewable, and sustainable power source that produces no atmospheric emissions or water pollution during operation. Manufacturing and installation have a small carbon footprint that is much smaller than the carbon footprint of the fossil fuels they potentially replace.

Early Homo Sapiens lived at the same time as many other human species
Super fact 86 : Early humans, early homo sapiens, lived at the same time as many other human species including Neanderthals, Denisovans, Homo floresiensis, Homo naledi, Homo luzonensis. Homo heidelbergensis, Homo erectus, and maybe other species as well.

The Evolution of Whales is No Longer a Mystery
Super fact 85 : Scientists recognized that whales descended from land animals already in the 19th century. However, it was not until the 1980’s that intermediate fossils for whale evolution were found. In addition, molecular and genetic / DNA studies showed that Hippopotamus and whales were closely related. Until then the evolution of whales was a bit of a mystery and creationists frequently mocked the lack of intermediate fossils for whale evolution.

Birds are Avian Dinosaurs
Super fact 84 : Modern birds are classified as part of the clade Dinosauria. They are direct descendants of small, feathered maniraptoran dinosaurs that survived the Cretaceous-Paleogene extinction event 66 million years ago. Maniraptoran dinosaurs in turn are a major subgroup of coelurosaurian theropod dinosaurs. In other words, birds are avian dinosaurs.

Shared False Memories Are Common – Mandela Effect
Super fact 83 : Everyone experiences false memories. They are a normal part of how human memory works and are very common. There are also false memories that are shared among large groups of people and that are often socially reinforced. This is called the Mandela effect.

New Beginnings in 2026
Esther’s writing prompt: December 31, 2025: New Beginnings
Click here or here to join in.
I’ve stopped making New Year Resolutions. According to Psychology Today 80-90% of New Year Resolutions fail. However, I still have goals and wishes for the new year. Instead of making promises I try to make changes at my own pace. One of them is that I’ve started using the Peloton bike that we bought for my wife. Another is trying to adapt to my new role as a grandfather. Our first grandchild Jack was born at the end of September 2024. Yet another new beginning is that I want to focus slightly more on my relatively new blog superfactful that I started in August of 2024. In 2024 I posted 25 super facts and in 2025 I posted 53. I also made 64 other kinds of posts on this blog. I am hoping to one day to have collected 200 super facts. My hope is that I will post 80 super facts in 2026. Let’s see how far I get.
New Beginnings the Peloton Bike
My wife and I bought a Peloton bike a couple of months ago. It was my wife who was the most interested in it but lately I’ve been trying it out as well. I found that this is an excellent way of getting some exercise. A Peloton bike is an internet-connected stationary exercise bike featuring a large touchscreen that streams live fitness classes led by instructors. You select your level, time and your instructor and press start.

I usually pick the same class as my wife does. It is the beginners class with Emma. You follow her instructions and you increase/decrease the speed and resistance. Emma does the same thing as you do, you follow her, she is encouraging and she plays great music for you as you do the exercises. It is almost like having your personal trainer. I know these are prerecorded classes but yesterday when my speed / cadence dropped below the goal, Emma told me, “Let’s try to keep the cadence above 80”. This happened twice giving me the feeling that the class was live. It is an entertaining way of exercising that I hope I will continue doing throughout 2026. Perhaps not every day, but I want to do it often. It is a new beginning for me, a new exercise beginning.

New Beginnings Our First Grandchild
Our oldest son Jacob and his wife Ashley live in Baltimore, Maryland, and their son Jack is three months old. We’ve visited a few times, and we are soon going back there, and they (Jacob, Ashley and Jack) are coming to visit us in February. Being a grandfather is a new role for me that I am going to have to learn. It is a New Beginning for me. You can read more about our latest trip to Baltimore here.

New Beginnings for Super Facts
In August of 2024 I started a second blog, superfactful. The goal of this blog is to create a list of facts that are important, not trivia, and that are known to be true and yet surprising, mind-blowing, shocking or disputed by large segments of the public. I am avoiding click bait and focusing on facts that will challenge the reader as well myself in a way that provides growth. Below are a few examples.
The Speed of Light In Vacuum Is a Universal Constant
Superfact 4 :
The speed of light in vacuum is the same for all observers regardless of their speed and the direction in which they are going. It is always c = 299,792,458 meters per second. If you try to catch up to a light beam and travel close to the speed of light the speed of the light beam will still be c = 299,792,458 meters per second compared to you. This is possible because time and space don’t behave like we expect.

Global Warming is Happening and is Caused by us
Superfact 25: Global warming or if you call it Climate Change or Climate Disruption is happening, and it is happening very fast, and we also know that it is caused by us primarily as a result of our burning of fossil fuels. There is a long-standing scientific consensus on these two facts because the evidence is conclusive. Check the evidence below.

Infinities Come in Different Sizes
Super fact 67 : Infinities come in different sizes. Some infinities are larger than others. In fact, it is possible to create an infinite number of different-sized infinities. Some infinities are countable and others are uncountable.

There are 78 super facts so far. I am hoping that my increased focus on this blog will lead to another 80 this year. It will be a New Beginning. To see a list of the 78 super facts and the next 72 I’ve planned click here.

Good News Highlight
Today’s post is a highlight of Good News from my super fact blog, which I call Superfactful. I am listing eight posts, seven of which are what I call super facts. A super fact is a fact that is important, not trivia, and that is known to be true and yet are either disputed by large segments of the public or highly surprising or misunderstood by many. The super facts included with this post are what you can call Good News. Surprising news, perhaps shocking news, but still good news.
Peace Is Boring News
The first and my most recent post is not a super fact but my musings on the fact that good news tends to be boring news and therefore forgotten.

Emissions of ozone-depleting gases have fallen by 99 Percent
Super fact 41 : Largely thanks to the Montreal Protocol in 1987 the emissions of ozone-depleting gases have fallen by more than 99%, 99.7% to be exact, according to Our World in Data. This has resulted in halting the expansion of the ozone holes and the reduction in emissions of ozone-depleting gases is saving millions of lives every year.

Natural Disasters Kill Less People Now Than 100 Years Ago
Super fact 35: Natural disasters kill a lot less people now compared to 100 years ago. That is despite a larger population and despite the fact that climate change has increased the frequency and intensity of many types of natural disasters.
The explanation for this is that we have become much better at warning people, preventing deaths and rescue people.

Smallpox Killed 300 million People in the Last Century Before Eradication
Superfact 24: Smallpox killed 300 million people in the 20th century. However, there have been no naturally occurring cases of smallpox since 1977, and the world was declared free of smallpox on May 8, 1980, by the 33rd World Health Assembly.

Poverty and child mortality has been sharply reduced worldwide
Superfact 7 : Extreme poverty as well as child mortality has been sharply reduced the world over. The countries that are the worst-off today are still better off than the countries that were doing the best at the beginning of the 19th century. Over the last 50 years extreme poverty and child mortality has continued to decline sharply.

5 Super Facts
With this blog post I wanted to bring attention to my other blog. The goal of this fairly new blog is to generate a list of what I call super facts, which are important facts, not trivia, known to be true and yet are either disputed by large segments of the public or highly surprising or misunderstood by many. Because these facts are fundamental and true and yet there is so much confusion and dispute surrounding them, I consider these facts to be very special. That’s why I call them super facts.
In a sense the blog is a myth busting blog. A myth busting blog that focuses on important information. I call this blog “Superfactful”. I am trying to get more subscribers and visitors to my new blog. This post is essentially a shoutout to my Superfactful blog. I am featuring five selected super facts. To read more about the super facts click on the images or links below.
I can add that about half the posts on “Superfactful” are not super facts but just fun facts or reviews of non-fiction books.
Super Fact #4 : The Speed of Light in Vacuum Is a Universal Constant
The speed of light in vacuum is a universal constant. The speed of light in vacuum is the same for all observers regardless of their speed and the direction in which they are going. It is always c = 299,792,458 meters per second. If you try to catch up to a light beam and try to travel close to the speed of the light beam, you will not be able to catch up. The speed of the light beam will still be c = 299,792,458 meters per second compared to you no matter how fast you go. This is possible because time and space don’t behave like we expect.

Super Fact #7 : Poverty and child mortality have been sharply reduced worldwide
Extreme poverty as well as child mortality has been sharply reduced the world over. Over the last 20 years extreme poverty and child mortality have continued to decline sharply.

Super Fact #25 : Global Warming is Happening and is Caused by us
Global warming or if you call it Climate Change or Climate Disruption is happening, and it is happening very fast, and we also know that it is caused by us primarily as a result of our burning of fossil fuels. There is a long-standing scientific consensus on these two facts because the evidence is conclusive. Check the evidence in the post.
In other words, politicians dispute this, political think tanks dispute this, many amongst the public dispute this, but scientists extremely rarely dispute this because the evidence is too strong.

Super Fact #28 : That Earth is round was well known long before Columbus
That Earth is round, or spherical (or closely spherical) had been known for at least a couple of thousand years by the time Columbus set sail. Columbus did not set sail to prove that earth was round, and he knew it was round.

Super Fact Page Added to Superfactful
Some of you know that I have a second blog. The goal of this blog is to create a long list of facts that are important, not trivia, and that are known to be true yet are either disputed by large segments of the public or highly surprising or misunderstood by many. I’ve created a list of super facts, which I keep updating as I add new super facts. So far, I’ve been posting and updating this list on every super fact post. As the number of super facts increases, this becomes a lot of work and in addition it is not good for SEO to repeat a large number of the same links over and over.
Therefore, I’ve created a new page featuring the super fact list as well as a new menu item “super facts” that opens this page. Below every super fact post I am adding the text “To see the Super Facts Click the Super-Facts menu above”. I am curious whether this menu and the page are easy to find. Please visit the superfactful blog and see if you can find the “super facts” menu item and the page. I have pasted the current content of the page below.

Todays Superfactful
I would like to highlight today’s Superfactful post called “Global Warming is Happening and is Caused by us”. I think it is an interesting one that is quite educational. It features 10 conclusive pieces of evidence that it is happening and then 10 pieces of evidence that we (humans) is the cause.

Updates to my new Superfactful Blog
Some of you who follow this, my Leonberger blog, know that I have launched a second blog. The goal of my second blog is to create a list of facts or insights that are important and not trivia, known to be true, and yet highly surprising, shocking, amazing, or widely disputed amongst the public but not disputed among the scientists or experts in the relevant fields. I refer to these facts as super-facts, because they are kind of special. However, on this new blog I will also post other fact related posts that I find interesting including non-fiction book reviews.

With this post I wanted to highlight some updates I’ve made to my other blog<<Link-1>>. First of all, I am including a short summary in bold at the beginning of all my super-fact posts. That way people who may just want to know what the fact is can read just this summary without having to read all the explanations, background and the evidence for it. Unfortunately, the full posts can get long and complicated sometimes. Below I am giving a couple of examples starting with my latest post “The Strange Worlds of Exo Planets”.
Superfact 13:
Our sun is a star, and it has 8 planets Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune (as well as comets, asteroids, dwarf planets, etc.). The stars you see when you look up in the sky also have planets. We have identified 5,765 exoplanets (as of July 24th, 2024) but there are billions more in our galaxy. Some exoplanets are similar to Earth, and some are very different from any of the planets in our solar system.

Another example is my second from last post “The United States is a Republic and a Democracy”
Superfact 12:
The United States is both a Republic and a Democracy
My third example is “The Speed of Light In Vacuum Is a Universal Constant”
Superfact 4 :
The speed of light in vacuum is the same for all observers regardless of their speed and the direction in which they are going. It is always c = 299,792,458 meters per second. If you try to catch up to a light beam and travel close to the speed of light the speed of the light beam will still be c = 299,792,458 meters per second compared to you. This is possible because time and space don’t behave like we expect.
Another change that I made is that I improved my list of upcoming super-facts. I made the list the first 50 super-facts list instead of 40 and I changed the list a little bit. This is the new list.
Below is a list of the first 50 super-fact posts

I have to admit I don’t have a lot of followers yet on my new blog so feel free to follow. I will divide my time and posts equally between the two blogs, which means that my Leonberger blog will have about half as many posts as usual. I will place book reviews for Leonberger books, poetry, and fiction on my Leonberger blog and anything (fiction and non-fiction) that touches interesting facts on my superfactful blog. I am open to any suggestions for further improvements.
My Old Blog and My New Blog the Way Forward
Many of you know that I have a new blog. The goal of this new blog is to create a long list of facts that are important, not trivia, and that are known to be true and yet are either disputed by large segments of the public or highly surprising or misunderstood by many. I call these special facts “super facts” in lack of a better term.
In my Leonberger blog (this one) I write about Leonberger dogs, but I also write book reviews and about non-Leonberger related topics. I am thinking about splitting the book reviews between my Leonberger blog and the Superfactful blog. I am thinking of putting Leonberger books, pure fiction and poetry on my Leonberger blog and non-fiction books and fiction books related to something factual on my Superfactful blog. I wonder if that is a good idea. Naturally the book reviews would not be part of the super fact list but would be on my blog. Any opinions about this split are welcome.
Finally, I would like to highlight my first post on my new blog. It describes my journey through the valley of bamboozlement and miscomprehension. In the past I have had to give up cherished beliefs that were wrong and I had to accept facts that were hard pills to swallow. I consider this growth. Click on any of the pictures below to read that post.

New Blog Launch
Today I finally got around to launching my new blog. I call it super facts and the website name is https://superfactful.com.
I added five posts, which are pretty much exactly the five super-fact related posts I posted here on my Leonberger blog previously. So, you may recognize them. In the continuation it will be stuff you haven’t seen before. However, now I need to find out if my blog works. Do I get notifications about comments and likes? Can you subscribe? Can you navigate it? All opinions and bug reports are welcome. I invite you all to check it out and if you subscribe, I would be very happy. I can add that it is easy to toggle between the two blogs, just look at the right-hand sidebar.
