This time I am reviewing a Leonberger book that only exist as an eBook/Kindle, All About Leonberger Puppies Kindle Edition by Laura James, published May 28, 2012. It is a very shorty book, 24 pages, ASIN: B00874J7SW. You can buy it from Amazon for $6.43.

Below I am posting my Amazon review of All About Leonberger Puppies. Click here to see my original Amazon review. BTW I gave the book three stars.
Generic Puppy Book with a Narrow Scope.
This short book covered how to pick a Leonberger/dog breeder, advice on bringing the puppy home, puppy food, food dangerous to dogs, and common puppy health issues. However, aside from mentioning that Leonbergers are double coated any Leonberger specific topics were avoided. You will not learn anything about Leonbergers by reading this book. All advice was generic and could be applied to any type of dog.
For example, Leonberger clubs, such as the Leonberger Club of America have lists of Leonberger breeders they approve of, but this was never mentioned. You should look there first. Leonbergers have health issues specific to the breed and this was never discussed. Leonbergers have certain personality traits that were never mentioned. The book did not contain many photos, something I would expect from a Leonberger puppy book. There were just a few small Leonberger puppy photos in the book. The book is very short and the information is generic, so you can’t say that it is “All” about Leonberger puppies. However, the advice was good, even though it was generic, and the book did not contain any errors, or misinformation, as far as I could tell, and it seemed to be well edited, therefore I give it three stars (really two and a half).

One of the features that I like about WordPress is that we can, when we use the “Star Rating” widget, give exact numbers of stars (including half-stars) in our reviews. That way, there’s no need to round off star ratings. I wish Amazon had that feature.

Oh I did not even know about the star rating widget. I have to check that out. Thank you Alex.

When you’re adding the blocks to your post, type “Star Rating” on the “search for block type” and the option will be available. Same thing for GIFs and YouTube videos.

I continue to be amazed how many Leonberger books are out there. I wonder if I looked up ‘Labrador Retriever’, if there would also be this many. Hmm… I enjoy your thoughtful reviews.

I’ve reviewed 15 Leonberger books and I have at least 12 more to go. However, if you count Leonberger books in foreign languages, and you count notebooks, logbooks, dog passports, coloring books for children, cookbooks, record books and journals with Leonberger pictures or references to Leonbergers there are around 1,200. I can add that I bought one Leonberger book in French and I am going to see if I can read it without problem.

I forgot to mention, why I would buy a French Leonberger book is because I am taking French classes, mostly just for fun. I could not find any Leonberger books written in Swedish on Amazon.com.

Kudos to you! Any reason for learning French?

My wife lived in France for a few years as a kid and therefore she knows some French, and her parents speak French even though it is not their first language. My wife also have a sister who lives in Marseille. My wife decided to improve her French so she joined l’Alliance Français. I joined with her to learn French. It might have been more natural for me to learn German since English and German were my second/third languages in high school. However, I don’t know many Germans.
